Lakeside Winery - July 30
Our first drive will be to the Lakeridge Winery and Vineyards on July 30 for their summer music series. The featured band is "Baby Blues and the No Attitude Band". There will be food and wine available and free tours of the winery. Check out their website at www.lakeridgewinery.com All club members are welcome to join us!

Historic Henley Field Baseball - August 30
We’re taking the Zs to historic Henley field in Lakeland to see the Flying Tigers play a baseball game! The Tigers are the Detroit Tigers class (A) farm team and will play the Daytona Tortugas on Tuesday August 30 at 1 pm. We will depart from Rohan Rec center that day at 10:30 am for the 63 mile trip to the park. Tickets will be purchased at the gate at $5 pp and there is plenty of shade in the stands.

Cruisin' on the River - October 27
On a lazy, lazy day, can you think of anything better to do than glide down a cool river? Captain Mike’s Lazy River Cruises in Dunnellon, FL, offers guided boat tours down the Withlacoochee River. What better way to view wildlife and beautiful scenery than from a relaxing seat on a calming boat ride? All tours are done on a 24-foot covered pontoon boat with very plush seating. In our beautiful Florida weather the boat is open most of the year with just the top covered and in some of our cooler or wetter days, that do tend to pop up occasionally, the boat can be enclosed.
The rivers in Florida offer some of the best bird watching in the nation. There are many varieties of birds such as herons, egrets, hawks, and eagles along with many other types of animals, especially alligators.
Captain Mike has been voted the best tour guide by the local community year after year. He is certified in eco-tourism and enjoys sharing his knowledge of the rivers, their history, the wildlife, and native flora. In business since 1997, Captain Mike’s is well-known for offering one of the most scenic and informative boat tours in the state.
The cruise departs at 10am and lasts 2 hours. After the cruise, we will have across the street at Red's Restaurant. The cruise is at 18$ pp. We will leave the Villages and take the local roads to the river.

Bok Tower Tower Gardens - November 29
The trip is about 80 miles down scenic Rt 33. Bok Tower Gardens is a National Historic Landmark that has enthralled visitors since 1929. The singing tower is the center of the 50 acres of beautiful landscaped estate. Daily concerts are preformed daily at 1 & 3 pm daily consisting of its 60 bells. The Pinewood Estate Home on grounds is a 20 room med style home showing its lifestyle of the 30's. See an array of nature theme yuletide decorations there. Take advantage of self guided tours of the complete property. We will have time to lunch on the grounds at the Blue Palmetto Café which serves sandwiches, soups, wraps and salads. Beer and wine available also.
Groupon is selling discount tickets for $24 per couple, or you can pay 40$ per couple at the door. The Groupon tickets are good any day until Jan 8 just in case. It’s Christmas season in Florida – so how do we celebrate? Why, with plates of shrimp and seafood by the water, of course! The Freezer Tiki Bar in Homosassa has cold beer, wine, plates of shrimp, crab legs, seafood and stone crab. They have outdoor seating by a marina. It is very casual. (Bring cash as they do not take credit cards)
After filling our tummies, we will proceed to the Christmas celebration of lights at the Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park on US 19. The Christmas lights are synchronized to music. There is a $5 donation.
